José Mourinho responds to Pep Guardiola for his shot in the Premier League: “Mine were clean”

Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho has hit back at his old rival Pep Guardiola for the latter’s mockery earlier this week. The Portuguese coach accused Guardiola and Manchester City of cheating.Guardiola responded to the Liverpool fans at Anfield by singing “You get fired in the morning” by holding up six fingers to indicate the six Premier Leagues he has won with City. When asked in the following days if this was ‘Mourinho style’, Guardiola replied: “I hope that’s not the case. In the end he won three Premier Leagues and I won six. But hey, in the end it’s the same, we are together in that sense.”

Mourinho, speaking before Fenerbahce’s clash with Besiktas, had three days to think about a response and he did not disappoint.

“Pep Guardiola told me something yesterday… he won six trophies and I won three, but I won fair and square. I don’t want to win by dealing with 150 lawsuits. If I lost, I want to congratulate my opponent,” he said, quoted by Relevo.

The two have been fierce rivals since Guardiola was in charge of Barcelona and Mourinho was boss of Real Madrid, when tensions between the two sides were at their peak in the 21st century. Guardiola famously noted, before beating Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final, that in the press room, Mourinho is the “fucking boss here.”
