At a delightful intersection of music and cricket, India’s renowned fast bowler, jasprit bumrahrecently reacted to being mentioned by Coldplay’s lead vocalist, cris martinduring his concert in Mumbai. This unique moment, which brought together fans of both cricket and music, has gone viral and shows the far-reaching influence of Bumrah’s cricketing prowess and the global appeal of Coldplay’s music.
Coldplay’s greeting to Jasprit Bumrah
During Coldplay’s performance at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse, as part of their “Music of the Spheres World Tour” Martin took a moment to recognize local sports heroes, including Bumrah. The band’s gesture highlighted Bumrah’s global fame and his status as one of India’s most famous cricketers.
At the concert, Martin not only praised Bumrah but also performed a reprise of his famous yorker for the England audience. Ollie Papa during the 2024 test series, which made fans cheer frantically. This tribute was part of Coldplay’s five-concert series in India from January 18 to 26.
Earlier, at his inaugural show at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil stadium, Martin had jokingly mentioned that Bumrah was backstage and asked for a 15-minute break in the concert to make some deliveries to him. However, the next day, Martin admitted that it had been a joke and then called Bumrah “No. 1 in the world,” while showing the video of Bumrah saying goodbye to the Pope.

Bumrah gives a humble response
Known for his steadfast nature and humility, Bumrah took to social media to express his joy and gratitude after hearing Coldplay’s scream. Despite being a global sporting icon, Bumrah has always maintained a down-to-earth personality, focusing more on his performance than being the center of attention. This moment, in which he was recognized by one of the biggest musical acts in the world, was no different. Through a heartfelt publication, he shared his excitement and gratitude for the recognition.
