Barcelona is once again within its salary limit three years after activating its ‘economic levers’, although it has done so by selling more assets. Although the Blaugrana still need to contribute money to close deals, that has not stopped them from looking at their next star recruits.
One of the preferred additions, at least in the opinion of coach Hansi Flick, is Bayern Munich’s creative midfielder Jamal Musiala. The German international made his debut for Bayern under Flick and the two also worked together within the framework of the Mannschaft operation before Flick’s dismissal.
Musiala is currently in contract negotiations with Bayern, as they attempt to extend his contract beyond the current deal until 2026. It is a deal that appears close to being finalized by the Bavarian giants. However, Sport reports that even if he signs a new contract with Bayern, it will include a “more or less” affordable release clause, which keeps the door open to a move, whether to Barcelona or elsewhere. Their problem would undoubtedly be finding a way to include Musiala in their salary cap, a salary probably also considerable.
Barcelona believe moving on from the likes of Frenkie de Jong could be key to sealing a deal, if their hefty wages are not on the books. Real Madrid have been linked with Musiala a lot more recently, but they seem to have given up hope of signing him on the cheap with his contract running out.
Previously, Musiala had expressed his affection for Barcelona, with Lionel Messi being his idol at the time as well. It seems difficult to imagine Barcelona investing much in Musiala, despite Flick’s wishes. Especially since they have similar options to Musiala behind the forwards.
Since Pau Cubarsí’s debut, only two centre-backs in the main European leagues have played more official matches for their respective clubs: Virgil van Dijk (33) with Liverpool and Berat Djimsiti (31) with Atalanta, both with 55 appearances. Incredibly, Cubarsi is only 17 years old… pic.twitter.com/cKHlpIRs6S

Few, if any, coaches would turn down the prospect of having Musiala, but the presence of Pedri, Gavi, Fermín López and, of course, the signing of Dani Olmo last summer, can play in similar areas to Musiala , although with different characteristics. .
