Cricket Australia announces 2024 Test Team of the Year; two Indian players make the cut

It’s been an exciting summer of Test cricket action in Australiaand there will be more to come as the climax of the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Arrive in Sydney. In the middle of that, Cricket Australia It has now named its 2024 Test Team of the Year with considerable representation of cricketers from outside Australia.

Players from six countries named in Cricket Australia’s 2024 Team of the Year

Cricket Australia has produced cricketers from 6 cricket-playing countries including England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India and Australia. Interestingly, England get the most spots with 3 English batsmen. Ben Duckett, Joe Root and Harry Brook featured in Cricket Australia’s Outstanding XI.

Sri Lanka and South Africa get one appearance each as a middle-order batsman Kamindu Mendis and spinning sensation Keshav Maharaj of the two nations respectively. Goalkeeper Batsman Alex Carey and pacemaker Josh Hazelwood They are the two Australians who have secured a place in the squad.

Two Indian stars feature in Test XI

The two Indians featured in the Cricket Australia XI are the opening batsman. Yashasvi Jaiswal and pacemaker jasprit bumrah. Furthermore, Bumrah has also been named the captain of the team. The 31-year-old captained the Indian team in the first Test match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Perth which India won by 295 runs.

Jaiswal was the highlight of the match, with a 161-run knock in the second innings. Since that Test match, Australia have returned to the series by winning the day-night clash in Adelaide and the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, but Jaiswal and Bumrah have consistently troubled the Aussies in the series.

Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker of the series with 30 wickets to his name and a best bowling figure of 6/76. Jaiswal, on the other hand, is the second highest run-scorer in the series behind travis head. The youngster has scored a total of 359 runs in the series so far with a batting average of 51.28.
