Cesc Fábregas blocks interest in transferring the Barcelona star

Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that Como will not make any transfer moves for Barcelona star Eric Garcia.

The Serie A side have been linked with a possible late bid for Garcia as Fabregas looks to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.

Despite Fabregas previously leaning on his connections with La Blaugrana, he will not be looking to bring in the Spanish international, despite the rumours.

“We will sign a central defender and we are very close to a full-back. Eric García will not sign for us. There are no possibilities, especially after the goal he scored against Benfica in the Champions League,” Mundo Deportivo quotes.

With García now firmly ruled out, Fábregas tackled another Barcelona target, with the former midfielder eyeing Alex Valle.

Barcelona are rumored to be considering a move to bring him back from a heavy loan spell at Celtic to send him to Como for the next six months.

Celtic will fight to retain the 20-year-old, but the final decision lies with Barcelona as the Catalans are not interested in a sale.

“[On Valle] Until we are sure we cannot say anything,” Fábregas added.

Garcia remains the Barcelona player most likely to leave the club before the January transfer window closes, as the club aims to raise around €20 million.

Interest from Serie A has waned in recent days and a return to Girona appears the most likely exit route for the 24-year-old.

Despite being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League this season, Girona are pushing again for European qualification by 2025/26, and García would help their cause in 2025.

If Garcia leaves, he could reduce Barcelona’s need to offload Ansu Fati, and the chances of a double departure are becoming less likely as the club gives up its bid to sign Marcus Rashford in the mid-season transfer window. .
