Barcelona’s Hansi Flick reveals the key to victory against Atlético de Madrid: “We know it’s not easy”

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick addressed the media ahead of the clash against Atlético Madrid on Saturday night. The winner of the clash will end the year in first position, and Flick has made it clear that his players will have to make the fewest mistakes to emerge victorious.

Flick confirmed that Héctor Fort and Andreas Christensen would miss the game against Atlético, joining Lamine Yamal, Marc Bernal and Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the wing, but Ansu Fati will return to the squad. The German coach has not yet decided who he will replace him with.

“It’s an injury, we have to accept it, we haven’t made the decision yet. We will decide tomorrow,” he said about Lamine Yamal’s injury.

Flick also gave a much more general assessment of his team and explained that he was happy with their progress.

“When we started this project, I think that if you said that on December 20 we would be first in La Liga and second in the Champions League, we have accepted it. “We have lost some points, it is a shame, because we should have beaten Leganés and Las Palmas.”

“The team that makes the fewest mistakes will usually win, tomorrow is another game, another chance to win. We have a good team, a young team, but we can also improve. “We will fight until the end of the season, we want to achieve great things this season, but we know it is not easy.”

Flick also highlighted Barcelona’s strong record against top teams, including wins over Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

“Against big teams this season, I think we’re doing very well, so I hope that continues.”

The German coach stressed that his team has to fight and will fight hard for the points on Saturday at 9:00 p.m. in Montjuïc. Barcelona and Atlético are currently tied on points, although Los Rojiblancos have one game less.
