Barcelona star struggling to deal with fame since arriving at club

Barcelona’s marquee signing this summer was a familiar face—Dani Olmo. The Blaugrana invested €55 million to bring the midfielder back from RB Leipzig, marking a significant transition for the Catalan-born player.

Olmo joined fresh off a triumphant Euro 2024 campaign, where he played a pivotal role in Spain’s victory in Germany. Despite being the club’s sole major acquisition during the transfer window, the move has been transformative for both Barcelona and Olmo himself.

According to Catalunya Radio, while Olmo is thrilled to be back at the club where his footballing journey began, he has struggled with one downside: the intense spotlight.

Unlike his quieter stints in Croatia with Dinamo Zagreb and Germany with Leipzig, where he enjoyed a degree of anonymity, life in Barcelona offers little privacy. Simple activities, such as shopping or dining out, have become challenging due to his newfound celebrity status.

Born and raised in Terrassa, a town just outside Barcelona that also produced Xavi Hernández, Olmo had grown accustomed to visiting his hometown every summer without much attention. However, his return as a Barcelona star and a key figure for Spain’s national team has dramatically elevated his public profile, making life far less discreet than before.
