Barcelona have lost their main source of creativity for one of their most crucial games of the season after Lamine Yamal was ruled out with a sprained ankle ligament on Monday. The 17-year-old was injured at the time.
According to Sport, Lamine Yamal has not been 100% fit over the past month. Since returning from an initial ankle injury suffered in early November, Lamine Yamal had improved considerably, but was not completely pain-free: his desire to help the team led him to force the issue.
Lamine Yamal: “In five years I imagine myself at Barça, the club of my life, winning all the possible titles. Hopefully the Champions League, which is the title that everyone wants to win. And with the national team, the World Cup.” Through @sport

Against Leganés, Lamine Yamal was asked during the break if he was fit to continue and he said yes, but Hansi Flick and his assistant Marcus Sorg did not change him until the 75th minute. Now Lamine Yamal will address the ankle issue with much more careful.
Taking an example from Frenkie de Jong, who is yet to regain his fitness eight months after his last ankle injury, the 17-year-old will ensure he makes a full recovery this time around, and could even add extra time to his recovery. Their participation in the Spanish Super Cup, in the semifinal against Athletic Club on January 8, is unlikely at this point.
It is a report that raises more questions than answers. Clearly, the Barcelona staff must take the player’s opinion into account, but especially with such a young player, they have a duty to not only protect him from his own enthusiasm, but also to be more proactive in protecting him from injury. It was clear to everyone that his injury was affecting him on Sunday night, and yet he remained in place, at risk of further damage.
