Barcelona fans criticized for shameful racial abuse after Lamine Yamal’s injury

Once again, social networks have been the scene of horrendous racial abuse towards a footballer, in this case Leganés midfielder Yvan Neyou. The 27-year-old was involved in the incident in which Lamine Yamal was injured on Sunday night, although the injury was completely accidental.

As Diario AS initially reported, Neyou published a screenshot on his Instagram of a series of comments from supposed Barcelona fans, in which you can see the use of the monkey emoji, which has racial connotations. The publication was made by the Cameroonian international about his story.

This is not the first time this has happened this season, and it is becoming very common for fans to racially abuse Black players on social media after games. Real Madrid star Endrick Felipe was subjected to racial abuse from Liverpool fans following an injury to Ibrahima Konate last month, while Lamine Yamal, of course, was one of four players to suffer racial abuse in person at the Santiago Bernabéu.
