Barcelona have struggled to replicate the same atmosphere at home games at Montjuic since leaving Camp Nou, but over the last month that problem has been exacerbated by the absence of the singing section. The dispute over fines continues with no end in sight, with Barcelona banning the singing section.
The club has demanded that the singing section pay the €21,000 in fines for offensive songs before they are returned to the ground. The singing section, a conglomerate of clubs, has refused to do so, saying that they should not all be forced to foot the bill individually. Now Sport affirms that the Blaugrana have no problem remaining without singing for the remainder of the season.
They also point out that the Blaugrana could modify the singing section for their return to the renovated Camp Nou. The Catalan newspaper states that the role and function of the singing section are being rethought, and formulas are being studied to ensure support by eliminating offensive songs. They consider that these followers are repeat offenders and want to break the cycle.
Liverpool will probably be one of Barcelona’s rivals on the preseason tour that will take place in Asia. @jaumemarcet

The most cynical opinion that has taken root in the Catalan capital is that President Joan Laporta is silencing the singing section for political reasons. Throughout the last year, chants of ‘Barça yes, Laporta no’ have been heard on several occasions that have not gone down well with the club’s hierarchy.
With the elections some 18 months away, Laporta is undoubtedly aware of the dissident voices, as two clearly rival groups have formed to compete against him. On the other hand, it is totally fair that Barcelona wants to eliminate any discriminatory or offensive behavior. Another factor is the environment: assistant director Marcus Sorg points out that noise negatively affects the players.
Finally, it is worth noting that this could also have a positive financial impact for the club. The singing section traditionally receives the cheapest tickets, but without them, the club can sell those same tickets at tourist prices. It wouldn’t be a surprise if a good number of those in the singing section also attended the games.
