Barcelona captain admits disappointment over Dani Olmo registration case

Barcelona vice-captain Ronald Araujo has admitted that Barcelona’s problems signing Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor have not sat well with the players. Coach Hansi Flick has also acknowledged his concern about the situation, and after the victory over Barbastro in the Copa del Rey, Araujo doubled down on that feeling.

The Blaugrana beat fourth division Barbastro 4-0, which gave them much more problems last year. It also saw Araujo return to the field after five months out due to a muscle tear. The Uruguayan defender was happy to be back, but the big topic of conversation continues to be Olmo and Víctor.

“[We have a] Bad taste [in our mouths] for our teammates. Let’s hope that the club can solve this issue with Olmo and Pau Víctor. Let’s hope they can solve it. Meanwhile we have to continue focusing on what is coming, the Super Cup,” Araujo told Marca.

Barcelona is preparing to raise the issue with the Ministry of Sports, requesting the temporary suspension of his withdrawal, to be able to play the rest of the season. However, a Serie A giant has already approached Olmo and political rivals of president Joan Laporta have demanded his resignation. It could mark an important turning point for Barcelona.
