“Barcelona and its fans deserve better” – Joan Laporta’s former rival criticizes the president’s management on the issue of registrations

The last few days have been incredibly hard for Barcelona, who are at serious risk of not having Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the second half of the season. For this reason, the club’s management has been harshly criticized and the last to comment is the former presidential candidate, Víctor Font.

Font, who lost to Joan Laporta in the last election, went to X on Wednesday to criticize his former rival.

“The situation with the signings of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor is very serious and paints a bad image of the best club in the world. Like all Barcelona fans, we are deeply concerned about the sporting, financial and institutional consequences. This could even lead to the loss of a player we signed just four months ago for €55 million due to poor planning and unprofessional management.

“We hope that the club resolves the situation of both players, but we cannot accept how Barcelona president Joan Laporta has handled this issue. We demand that the board of directors and the president explain their actions and the consequences in detail, including: Why did we sign such an expensive player if we were already over the Fair Play limits and had no clear plan to fix it? Why did we take legal action if we knew it wouldn’t work, as court rulings have shown? What is the club doing now so that we don’t lose Olmo and Pau Víctor? What is the truth about the sale of VIP seats at Camp Nou? Have they been sold? To which investors and under what terms?

“We don’t want to lose a player just a few months after spending 55 million euros on him. We are giving the president a reasonable time to explain everything and show immediate action by the club. But we will remain alert. We will not sit idly by while resources and the club’s reputation are wasted, affecting us on the field of play. Barcelona and its fans deserve better. We need to put an end to these bad practices and feel proud of our club again, because Barcelona is more than a club.”

If Barcelona cannot register Olmo and Víctor, there will be a lot of pressure on Laporta. In this sense, perhaps you can consider yourself lucky that Barcelona’s next presidential election is not until 2026.
