Bangladesh unveils 15-member squad for ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup 2025

He Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially presented the squad for the long-awaited second edition of the ICC U19 T20 Women’s World Cupscheduled to take place in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025. Bangladesh Group and Tournament Structure

The coveted trophy will feature 16 teams divided into four groups. Bangladesh have been placed in Group D, along with Australia, Nepal and Scotland. Each team will play three group matches, with the top three in each group advancing to the Super Six stage. Points earned in the group stage will carry over to the Super Six League, where teams will compete for a place in the semi-finals. The top two teams in the Super Six will advance to the knockout rounds, culminating in the grand final on February 2, 2025.

Squad analysis: a mix of youth and experience

The team announced for the tournament strikes a delicate balance between experienced players and promising newcomers. Captain Sumaiya and vice-captain Afia Ashima provide leadership and stability to the team. Nishita Akter Nishi and Farjana Easminwho have delivered consistently in recent tournaments, will spearhead the bowling attack.

Notable additions to the team include Luck Khatun and Sadia Islamwho were not part of the Asia Cup squad but provide additional depth to the team. Meanwhile, Arvin Tani and Remote attackerswhich were part of the Asia Cup campaign, have been omitted, indicating a strategic change in the team’s composition.

The Bangladesh team boasts a combination of dynamic batsmen, skilled spinners and versatile all-rounders, making them a formidable unit. Players like it Fahomida Choya and Sadia AkterKnown for their ability to anchor tackles, they will play crucial roles in high-pressure games.
