Sometimes, greatness runs in the family.
Several players in the history of sport have followed their father’s footsteps to become their own stars. In fact, some of the best players in the main American sports are children of former professional athletes.
However, not many father-son duos have the opportunity to play together, such as LeBron and Bronny James did with the Los Angeles Lakers at the beginning of the 2024-25 season.
That said, here are the 10 best father-son duos in the history of sport.
The old Long had an unusual path to a career in the Hall of Fame, playing in Villanova just before his university football program was closed briefly. But as it emerged as highlighted there, the Raiders selected him in the second round of the 1981 NFL draft. Then he became one of the best defensive liners of the NFL in the 1980s, doing eight professionals and helping The Raiders to win the Super Bowl XVIII.
Long’s eldest son, Chris, followed his steps. The second general selection in 2008, Chris Long had several solid seasons with the Rams before winning a Super Bowl title with the Patriots in 2016 and the Eagles a year later. Long, who finished his career with 70 captures, was one of the few players in NFL’s history to win consecutive Super Bowls with different teams. He and his father also became the first father-son duo to win a Super Bowl.
Kyle Long, meanwhile, played on the other side of the ball. The three -time Pro Bowl was a first round of the Bears, and spent most of his career in Chicago, losing to the Eagles (and his brother) in the memorable playoff game “Double Doink”. He joined the Chiefs for a season in 2021 after a one -year retirement, but did not appear in any game with them due to an injury.
9. Cecil Fielder and Prince Fielder

The five times All-Star averaged more than 20 points per game in each of the winning seasons of the Golden State title, with the Warriors arriving at the NBA finals twice during his mandate with the team. Thompson are one of the five father-son duos that has won a NBA title.
The other half of the “Splash Brothers” was also the son of an outstanding NBA. Dell Curry exploded as one of the first 3 -point shooters in the league, making 40.2% of his shots from depth in his 16 -year career. He also won the sixth man of the year in 1994 and is the second in the Hornets‘List of leaders of all time.
Of course, Steph Curry brought his father’s 3 points to a completely different level. The Warriors star revolutionized the game with her 3 -point shooting, winning two MVP (including the first unanimous in the history of the League) on the way to guide Golden State to four championships. Three decades after Bonds emerged as a young star with the giants, her son joined her career from the Hall of Fame in a big way during her time in the Bay area. He won five of his seven MVP of NL during his 15 seasons with the giants, including four followed at the beginning of the century. The warriors have left their mark on the history of Canadian baseball. He joined his historical career in his first season with Los Angels, reaching 39 home runs in 2004 to win his first and only MVP. The nine times All-Star became a member of the Hall of Fame in the second vote.

3. Bobby Hull and Brett Hull

Ken Griffey Mr. and Ken Griffey Jr. made history notably when they became the first father-son duo to play together in the elders. Before appearing in 51 games together in the early 1990s, Griffey Mr. played a key role in the triumphs of the World Red Series in the 1970s. He was one of the best contact hitters in the game when They won everything in 1975 and it was an All-Star a year later when the Reds claimed the World Series again. Griffey Mr. finished his career as three times All-Star.
The young Griffey is known as one of the best players in the history of MLB. It was 13 times All-Star and an MVP winner, leading the al Homers four times. Junior, who mainly starred in the sailors and the reds, also won 10 gold gloves in his career. It occupies the seventh place of all time with 630 career homers, and established a record at that time for the greatest vote participation of the Hall of Fame in 2016.
1. Archie Manning and Peyton Manning, Eli Manning
Most families would love to have a field marshal good enough to do the NFL. The Manning family not only had three (four will probably arrive soon), but the three also became the best field marshal in the league.
