Explaining the entire scenario to viewers, Reifer said: “Erasmus was not declared in the playing XI and the playing conditions clearly state that only the head coach can immediately notify the fourth umpire of the fall of a wicket or the retirement of a batsman.
“As we saw there, our fourth official was not informed by the Super Sub. Therefore, Gerhard Erasmus really had no right to go to a middle ground because the process was not followed properly.”
