Reddy’s heroics saved Indian team in Melbourne
Reddy became a hero after saving the team in the Boxing Day Test team after the entire Indian batting order fell to the Australian attack like a pack of cards. The Australians in their first innings made a gigantic figure of 474 runs. In response, the Indians’ batting order completely collapsed amid constant dismissals. It was during these desperate times that Reddy, along with Washington Sundar, put together an extraordinary 127-run partnership to save the Indian innings from the humiliation of a follow-on. Reddy with an epic innings of 114 runs helped India put 369 runs on the board at 221/7 at once and brought the Indian total close to Australia’s first innings score. Reddy was the fourth highest run-scorer of the series with 298 runs in 9 innings to his name.
