Villarreal completes the permanent signing of the Paris Saint-Germain star

Villarreal is waiting to close the loan deal for Rafa Marín, but in the meantime it has closed its first deal of the winter market, although it is for a player who was already at the club.

In the final days of last summer’s transfer window, Villarreal signed Juan Bernat on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain. The former Valencia and Bayern Munich left back was hired to provide competition for Sergi Cardona, although he has only managed to make three starts so far this season (one in La Liga).

However, Villarreal are happy with Bernat and have now signed him permanently. According to MD, PSG terminated the 31-year-old’s contract, meaning he signed a contract until the end of the season, meaning that the circumstances of the deal have not changed much.

PSG made the decision to terminate Bernat’s contract after already reaching the limit of loaned players from the first team. They wanted to send Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus for the rest of the season, so to do so they had to terminate the contract of the Spanish defender, capped eleven times.

The situation has been very complicated for PSG, but Villarreal will not mind signing Bernat permanently. He has only signed until the end of the season, although there will be chances of his contract being extended, although it is unlikely that decision will be made until the summer.

Bernat has found it difficult to make an impact at La Cerámica, but he has time on his hands to overtake Sergio Cardona, although that won’t be easy as the former Las Palmas defender has been a standout player for Villarreal. However, coach Marcelino García Toral knows that he has two good options at left back.
