Turkish coach Vincenzo Montella is confident that Arda Guler is beginning to make his way at Real Madrid.
Guler struggled to gain playing time in his first 2023/24 campaign in Madrid as injuries disrupted his impact.
However, his role has increased this season as Carlo Ancelotti begins to show more faith in the 19-year-old.
Despite positive developments, his lack of prominence at the club has affected his chances with the national team, with former Turkey coach Mustafa Denizli labeling some of his recent performances for Turkey as “immature”.
Montella is taking a more optimistic approach to his rising talent, and the former Italy international is confident Guler is moving in the right direction, despite the difficult situation in Madrid.
“Arda is trying to find an opportunity in a team where there is a high level of competition,” Mundo Deportivo quotes.
“I’ve seen a lot of improvements recently. Particularly in terms of character and fighting, he has learned to do both.
“Arda will play more in the future, he just needs a chance.”
Guler scored six goals in La Liga last season, despite his limited playing time, but is yet to find the back of the net in any competition so far in 2024/25.
