The Spanish Football Federation confirms the new date of the postponed Valencia-Real Madrid

At the beginning of November, Real Madrid’s League match against Valencia was postponed due to the havoc that the DANA storm had caused in the Valencian Community. It means the match will be played at a later date, and although there were doubts about when exactly that would be, they have now been put to rest.

Originally the idea was for the match to take place on January 2, although the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) opposed this. It was then proposed that the match be played 24 hours later (on the 3rd, at 9:00 p.m.), a date and time that has already been approved by the Spanish Football Federation.

This confirmation means that Valencia and Real Madrid will change their Copa del Rey ties. They play Eldense and Deportiva Minera respectively on the weekend after their La Liga fixture, although those matches are now more likely to take place on Monday 6 January.
