The Barcelona star continues to push to leave despite the change in circumstances, a replacement could be signed

Much has been made of Ronald Araujo’s future at Barcelona in recent weeks, amid reports that he intends to leave the club in January. The Uruguayan defender has not been happy with his place in the squad, although a change in circumstances is expected in the coming weeks and some believe it could change things.

Íñigo Martínez’s muscle injury will leave him out for a month, so there is a place at stake alongside Pau Cubarsi. Araujo is expected to be the one to play, although that may no longer be the case as Relevo says he still wants to leave Barcelona before the winter transfer window ends.

Barcelona does not want to lose Araujo and will ask for more than 50 million euros to close the deal. Juventus are determined to get a deal done, although they will have to pay the asking price for that to happen.

If Araujo leaves, the report claims that Barcelona could sign a replacement, now that Martínez will be out for at least a month. The club’s return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule makes this possible, although with Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia on the back foot, it may be better to save money for the summer.
