The dust has calmed down in Barcelona, following an emergency court order, a victory in the Clásico and its return to the so-called ‘1:1 rule’, following an agreement to sell more assets, in this case a percentage of its VIP seats at the renovated Camp Nou. However, the Barcelona squad has had as many questions for president Joan Laporta as the rest of us.
At the height of the Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor registration drama it was reported that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick had been asked to explain the situation to the players. Despite the German coach’s best efforts, the Blaugrana team had little clarity on what they wanted and would not get it.
By demanding that Laporta come to speak personally with the squad to unravel the doubts of a squad with two teammates unable to play, the Barcelona president agreed. Sport says he explained the moves he had made and the reasoning behind them. However, the Barcelona squad had similar questions to the rest of the world, led by one in particular: why couldn’t you have done all this sooner?
Their information is that Laporta’s response was so crazy that the players did not even respond, completely bewildered by Laporta, unaware of the matter.

The issue is also far from resolved, since the fates of Olmo and Víctor will be determined in court, with a maximum delay until early April. It is possible that both will arrive at the end of February without being able to play the rest of the season.
After the drama, the pressure on Laporta has increased: rival groups are calling for his resignation and Laporta responds by calling those who question him an enemy. He also dismissed Raphinha’s comments that he would think twice about joining Barcelona as misinterpreted, but it appears the players are losing a degree of trust in their president.
