Real Madrid will continue fighting with strategy despite major mistakes

Real Madrid have taken a consistent approach to the transfer market over the last five years, and one that has worked for them for the most part. However, its strategy has come into question after missing out on two major deals.

Los Blancos made a conscious decision in recent years that any big spend they made would be used on young talent with plenty of room for improvement, with players such as Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham all them falling under that umbrella. Similarly, when it comes to veteran players, not only are they no longer offering contracts of more than one year to those over thirty, but older players are only signed on free transfers.

Within that idea, Real Madrid has once again sought to do business in another way. Although the majority of clubs adhere to the negotiation with agents, finally reaching an agreement between demand and offer, with the white team there has only been the offer. His idea is to convince the player to join and then make him what he believes is a fair offer, reaching a limit that he will not cross, regardless of what other clubs put on the table.

This was demonstrated in the summer, when Real Madrid refused to raise its offer for Leny Yoro, convinced that with the player’s preference and his contractual situation, Lille would give ground. However, Manchester United jumped at the odds and Yoro accepted their offer.

With Alphonso Davies, Bayern Munich appear willing to sign him to a new contract, despite reaching a verbal agreement with Los Blancos in March 2024. Relevo says Real Madrid once again made it clear that they would not get involved in a war of offers, and then After a meeting last Friday in which Davies rejected Bayern’s offer, an agreement was reached in a second meeting between the two.

Despite missing out on both, Real Madrid accepts that this is a risk in its approach and has no intention of changing it. They believe that players who really want to play for the club will do so, with the case of Trent Alexander-Arnold being cited as the best example.
