Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has stated that it is his injury problems that are preventing him from rotating his squad further, after suffering another possible blow with Kylian Mbappé injured against Atalanta. However, Los Blancos won 3-2 and Ancelotti was pleased with his team afterwards.
With an average of more than one injury per game this season, Diario AS says that in their 23 games so far this year, Los Blancos have suffered 27 injuries. An unusually poor injury history, much of the blame has lately been pointed at fitness trainer Antonio Pintus. These figures do not include the serious knee injuries suffered by David Alaba and youth players César Palacios and Joan Martínez during the preseason. Carvajal has missed 11 games so far, Militao six, while Eduardo Camavinga (9 games) is the second most affected by injuries.
While local media reports have focused on Pintus, Ancelotti does not rotate his starters frequently, but he explained this after the game.
“Now we have to wait until Christmas, there is no other option. The schedule is demanding, the staff is small and does not allow rotation. When we recover players there will be more competition, but what will not change is that I am going to put the best possible team to win each game,” he told MD.
“Ceballos played a spectacular match, Fran García put in a top-level performance. The second string is contributing a lot and is very good news. The victory gives us a breath of fresh air.”

One of the players returning from his injury problems after “a few difficult weeks” is Rodrygo Goes, who replaced Mbappé after half an hour. He, like many, pointed out the schedule.
“I think that’s the secret, we play very difficult games every other day and we always have to give our best on the field. The schedule is a bit crazy, but it is what it is, we want to show our face in every game and help Real Madrid,” Rodrygo explained to Cadena SER.
The two cases that have been brought against Ancelotti in this regard are those of the young stars Arda Guler and Endrick Felipe. The Brazilian has only played 149 minutes this season, although there is tough competition up front. Meanwhile, Guler has seen more action (549 minutes), but until November he was used sparingly.
