New LSG captain Rishabh Pant reveals the team he thought would pick him in the IPL 2025 auction

After nine years of career with Capitals of Delhi in it Indian Premier League (IPL)star hitter RISHABH PANTS It was finally released by the Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)a relatively new shareholder in the IPL snapped up Pant and acquired him for a record fee of INR 27 crore. However, the entire process of this gigantic firm was not as simple as it seems. Pant himself was surrounded by thoughts and reservations before the auction when he revealed the franchise that he thought would actually buy him for the season.

In a special discussion, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka announced that Pant would be his new captain for the upcoming season. The franchise was previously run by KL Rahul before he was released after a disappointing end to their previous campaign under him. Pant will now lead an LSG team in IPL 2025 that is star-studded with the presence of David Miller, Nicolas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Aiden Markram and many others.

However, it was during this announcement that Pant revealed what his thoughts were ahead of the mega auction. According to Pant, he speculated about the two teams that would pick the explosive 27-year-old batsman and his assumption was not far from the truth.

“Mereko andar se ek hi tension tha, woh tha Punjab (I only had one internal tension and that was Punjab). The second highest (wallet) was Rs 82 million. Punjab had 112 crores. When Shreyas (Iyer) went there, I thought I can go to LSG. “I thought there might be a chance.” Pant said during a talk on Star Sports.

Furthermore, in his conversation with hot starPant also spoke about his feelings after being named captain of LSG for the new seasons and expressed his level of commitment to the franchise.

“Amazing. Now I only have one word: I am overwhelmed. So as a player, when your owner supports you in this way and helps you, your level of trust and commitment will reach 200%.” Added new LSG pattern.

LSG owner Goenka also spoke about the preparation so far before acquiring Pant for LSG and also spoke about the level of confidence he had in mind while getting the star batsman for his team.

“I wanted to get Rishabh Pant, which was the goal. I didn’t care about others or their opinions on which team wanted Pant. I was sure that I wanted to get Rishabh Pant and I knew that no one could match my offer. I was never stressed. But we wanted Rishabh at all costs, regardless of the price.” Goenka said.
