Juventus will present an improved offer for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo

It looked like Ronald Araujo would remain at Barcelona for at least the rest of the season, but Juventus are determined to torpedo those plans. The Bianconeri are planning a new approach.

Following conversations with sporting director Deco, Araujo has reportedly decided to stay at the club until the summer, with new contract negotiations on the horizon. One of the reasons why Araujo was convinced was that Juventus, the first club to move for him, had not submitted a sufficient offer. However, Sport has information from both GdS and Tuttosport claiming that Andrea Cambiaso’s proposed move to Manchester City could change that.

With Cambiaso planned as a €65m signing for Pep Guardiola, the cash influx will allow Juventus to increase their offer from €50m to €70m for Araujo. It was previously reported that Barcelona’s asking price would be €60-70 million, but the centre-back will have the final say on any move.

Araujo’s agents are due to land in Barcelona this week to discuss a new deal, and Arsenal are also believed to be interested. Another of the reasons that Deco had given to convince Araujo was to include an “accessible” termination clause, but if the Bianconeri meet his demands, it seems that Araujo’s determination will be tested.
