Hansi Flick, Barcelona coach, denied request for the January transfer market

Barcelona has five days to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, or they will face being left without them for the remainder of the season. His financial situation has practically ruled out any further action in the January transfer market.

Much to the chagrin of coach Hansi Flick. A few weeks ago, Flick let the club know that he would like to be able to sign a defensive midfielder on loan in the winter transfer market, as reported by Sport. He was interested in someone who had legs and was physically strong, who could add muscle and compete for the ball, something he would have appreciated especially in the last half hour of the game.

He was interested in someone with the characteristics of Ngolo Kante, with whom Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid were linked in the summer, although Al-Ittihad was not willing to do business. However, Flick has been told there is simply no room in the salary cap for an addition.

Another name that interested him was Leon Goretzka, from Bayern Munich. Flick managed Goretzka while he was there, and although the former Schalke midfielder does not have the defensive profile described above, he does have the physical profile he was looking for. In November, Goretzka was a real loan option, when Barcelona believed they could spend thanks to the agreement with Nike. He didn’t have any minutes at the time, but after Joao Palhinha’s injury, he has returned to the fold.

Barcelona have struggled in recent weeks to replicate their early season form and criticism of Flick is increasing. However, the imbalance and lack of resources in the Barcelona team is an inevitable problem for Flick, and he will have to train.
