England cricket icon, James Anderson He recently named his dream XI from the wealth of talent he has played against. This list was shared during an exclusive interview on TalkSport Cricketorganized by Steve Harmisongiving cricket fans a unique insight into Anderson’s perspective on the game’s greats.

Elite starters
Alastair Cook (ESP): The former England captain, known for his marathon innings, opens the batting for Anderson’s dream team. Cook’s ability to weather storms and post substantial scores has evidently left a lasting impression.
“I managed to pick Cook just because of the volume of racing and he’s one of my best friends. “We played together, he was the captain for a while, we became very close and, yes, an incredible player.” Anderson said of Cook.
Virender Sehwag (IND): India’s aggressive opener, Sehwag’s fearless approach at the top of the order has earned him a place, showcasing Anderson’s admiration for dynamic opening batsmen.
“I am going to Sehwag. I feel Sehwag has the ability to take a game away from you and can win a game in one session. I wanted to hit every ball for six, it was really exciting to watch, but it was obviously difficult to bowl.” Anderson said in Sehwag.
Middle order domain
Virat Kohli (IND): Kohli’s inclusion is no surprise as his consistent performances, particularly against England, make him one of Anderson’s toughest opponents.
“Kohli for me. I think Kohli is just phenomenal as a match-winner, he has it all.” Anderson observed.
Joe Root (ESP): The current England captain, Root’s versatility and classic batting technique have secured him a place in this elite line-up.
“Joe Root every day of the week. “I think he’s someone who… I think Harry Brook could potentially become England’s best batsman, but I think Joe Root is England’s best batsman.” considered the former English pacer.
Sachin Tendulkar (IND): The master of cricket, Tendulkar’s battles with Anderson are part of cricket folklore, making his selection a nod to one of the greatest games of all time. On choosing Tendulkar, Anderson said: “I think Sachin likes the one that people present as the best of all time, incredible. I think 200 Test matches though, a lot of ODIs in T20, is playing with the amount of pressure that he has seen like a God in India, so having that amount of pressure of a billion people watching every time You go out and play, I think he faced. with that amazing.”

All-round influence and star goalkeeper
Andrew Flintoff (ESP): Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, Anderson’s teammate during the famous 2005 Ashes, brings his all-round skill and highlights the impact of his performances on Anderson’s career.
“I would probably pick Fred just because he has something special, he changes games with the bat and in the field in a similar way to Ben Stokes. He can just pull something out of the bag when a team needs it. I just think that to win a game was kind of an influence that attracted Fred.” Anderson explained.
Rishabh Pant (IND): The young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, known for his bold strokeplay, adds style and excitement to Anderson’s dream team. In choosing Pant over Adam Gilchrist, Anderson considered: “I think he’s almost there as one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen in the world. He’s inventive with his shots, you can tell he has a really strong game for most situations. I don’t know enough about keeping to know who is the better goalkeeper of the two, but I would choose Pant.”
Spin and pace bowling unit
Shane Warne (AUS): The legendary player, whose battles with Anderson were pivotal to many memorable Ashes series, provides the cunning and mystery of the twist.
“Shane Warne, without a doubt one of the greatest characters to ever play the game like you, we just mentioned about Fred and what he brings to a team that brings to the game of cricket and Sachin also in that mold of people who look up to Someone He had that in large quantities, he had that charisma, you meet someone you wanted to go and see how you pay, you know, pay your money to go and see someone like that.” Anderson said of Warne.
Stuart Broad (ENG): The selection of Broad, Anderson’s long-time accomplice, is a testament to their unparalleled partnership and success in English cricket. While choosing Broad, he said: “I’m going to pick Stuart, simply because I think he did it consistently over a long period of time. I think just out of sheer consistency I’m going wide.”
Glenn McGrath (AUS): The inclusion of Australian rhythm legend McGrath reflects Anderson’s respect for his precision and effectiveness over the years.
“I think McGrath, having grown up watching him and then playing against him, I feel like there’s no one better who is metronomic and with his precision and relentlessness he can move the ball well in all conditions.” Anderson observed.
Dale Steyn (SA): Completing the bowling attack is Steyn, whose pace and swing made him a formidable opponent, respected by Anderson for his skill and competitiveness.
“I choose Dale Steyn. I didn’t play against Bret Lee much, he played a little bit. I mean, yes, an incredible, terribly fast bowler could do it too. but I think Steyn was, I think Steyn was the best bowler of this generation, like he had everything speed could do with precision, like he was just a nightmare to play against and I wanted to have that kind of anger. in his eyes where he felt like he wanted to kill you when you were fighting him.” Anderson added.
