The Super Bowl is back in New Orleans, with an epic confrontation between the Chiefs and the Eagles established for February 9 at the Superdome, and with whom it is better to talk about the great game in Big Easy Than Drew Brees. The former field marshal of the Saints is a safe income of the 2026 of the Hall of Fame of Profession It is special for New Orleans, this the confrontation of the year and other NFL issues.
Fox Sports: First, what does the Super Bowl back in New Orleans have?
Brees: It’s tremendous. It is the eleventh time that New Orleans is the host of the Super Bowl, tied for most with Miami. And there is a reason why they continue to return to New Orleans, because it is a great host city. They know how to organize a party. They know how to show everyone a good moment, just a good southern hospitality.
New Orleans really enjoys entertaining and is very well located for it. When you think of that area of the center of New Orleans with the French neighborhood, the CDB (Central Business District), the warehouse district, you have the dome just there, all hospitality, all hotels, restaurants, live music. I mean, everything is a short distance. So literally you just fall into the city, and you never have to jump in a car. You are just walking everywhere. And there is only a vitality and energy that you feel while walking. All are very friendly and so welcoming. We love to show our city. We love to show our culture, and I think it is something that people really appreciate, and that is why they continue to return to us.

Fox Sports: How many Super Bowls have you been as a fan? Were you there for the last in New Orleans in 2013?
Brees: I wasn’t in the stadium. I was a bit annoying after that season (in which the Saints were 7-9), so I decided not to go. Most Super Bowls, I’m there for events during the week, and I get home to sit on the couch with my family and see the game. And some of that is not frustrated because you are not playing in the game, but I have been in many games. I went to some Super Bowls while playing, just because there were teams that I felt that I could get some type of strategic advantage watching them in person. But I will be in which I will be, since the bosses try to make history and the Eagles try to prevent history, and come a bit of two years ago.
Fox Sports: You won the only Super Bowl in which you played, so you were efficient that way. You have Patrick Mahomes for his fourth title and an unprecedented third party. You have Jalen Hurts facing the same team for the second time in three years, still trying to obtain his first title. Who has more pressure on him?
Brees: You could say that Chiefs have been carrying this appointment pressure for the whole season. I think I speak for everyone who really know the game and is amazed at what the Chiefs have been able to achieve. Despite the fact that, as, truly, sometimes this year, they didn’t look great. It definitely seemed that they had some deficiencies and were not as efficient as you would have expected to be, and yet they finished the 16-1 season. It’s every week saying: “What happens to the Chiefs? What happens to the Chiefs? What happens to the Chiefs?” And they have 16-1, right? Well, I don’t care what is wrong. They are discovering ways to win. They obtained championship DNA, as, if there is a moment at the end of that game in which they have the opportunity to play, they are likely to make that play.
It is really difficult to bet against Chiefs. However, this would say, the Eagles seem unstoppable in the offensive at this time. I don’t see how Saquon Barkley addresses. They are so good in advance. And then you have Jalen Hurts, who is a threat to run the ball at all times, so he almost becomes an extra blocker in the race game. So, inevitably, you have one by one with someone in the open field and good luck for you. And then on the defensive, they are very, very robust too. And they have the motivation to have lost their face to face with the Chiefs two years ago and just losing that game, 38-35. So, there is an advantage there. And I am sure that a little like, “hey, we have nothing to lose. Chiefs have pressure on them, not us.”
Fox Sports: When you get away from the game for a second, there are so many young field marshals, first and second year boys in the League. Is there one that you liked or one that has really impressed you in the last year or two?
Brees: This year, the season Jayden Daniels had was really phenomenal. There is a balance and a composure that is beyond its years when you think about being a rookie field marshal. That career that continued was largely due to their skill and game leadership and the way in which all those types believed in it. And Bo Nix, in the section with Denver. I mean, Golly were hot, and he was playing extremely well with Sean Payton. Those were the first year boys who skipped me.
But then I think of all the league quarters that are in their sixth or less. You know, Joe Burrow and CJ Stoud, and Bryce Young overcoming early adversity this year and ending the year as he did. I mean, the future is so brilliant with these young quarters. They are very fun to see. They are so dynamic. I think the league is in good hands at this time with these young QB.
Fox Sports: With all eyes in New Orleans now, the Saints are the only team that has still hired a coach. What do you think of that work and that situation, and what does the team need to do to return to where they were when you were there?
Brees: Unfortunately for them this year, they were only decimated by an injury. I think we all saw what the saints could be when they were healthy. The first two weeks, were worldwide, right? Then, suddenly, you lose a receiver, you lose another receiver, you lose the interior lines, you lose Taysom Hill, you lose Alvin Kamara. You lose quartback. That is hard sled. I think they still have excellent central pieces to run. Look, I think the division is also open. It’s not as if NFC South has been burning the world, right? I think nine victories have won that division here for the last two years.
It is a league driven by the field marshal, so I think you must make sure you have an offensive system and a coach that is put into play with Derek Carr, and can place it in a position where you can be at your best. That dictates much of what happens with the rest of the team and the atmosphere. Defensively, I think we have always had a great leadership, and I feel that we have been a defense of the 10 best during the last eight years in a row. Unfortunately, those guys were put at some really difficult points last year with all injuries.
So I think the central pieces are in place. Simply find a coach who really can put a culture and a base and a responsibility in his place, and obviously systems that fit the players’ strengths. I think you have a large group of leaders, continue adding to that through free agency and then the draft.
Fox Sports: For people who go to New Orleans for the great game, you are working in the place, who has premium packages for fans looking to enter the game and enjoy some events in the game as well.
Brees: This is very fun. In the place he is gathering a ton of really unique experiences in New Orleans. They are the official NFL hospitality provider for the Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans. So they have a great event of “Taste of New Orleans”, where they are gathering a group of chefs, a lot of flavors together, a fun event in the Superdome before the game and giving fans a unique glance behind the curtain to Super Bowl 59 in the Superdome before the fireworks begin. I will be in a lot of different events for the place throughout the week, interacting with fans, just having a good time. So, for anyone who wants to learn more about that and potentially be part of some of these events, you can go to Onlocationxp.com.
Fox Sports: The last thing I want to ask is the Eagles supporter, Zack Baun, who was a rookie with the Saints your last year in the League. What do you remember from him and how to see how Eagles has emerged this season?
Brees: I have been really excited by Zack, and I think it is an incredible story, and honestly one that should get a ton of inspiration for many young players. You know, here there was a guy who entered, in third round with the Saints, mainly a Wisconsin special team player. We had a large central guy group in the place in the supporter position, but for him, it was like, “Hey, I’m going to do everything possible to help this team. I will learn from these guys. I will take advantage of every opportunity I have. ”
And then he has the opportunity to go to Philadelphia, and the next thing you know is that he is there and has been a large part of his success in defense. Those are the boys to whom you support him. I mean, I’m very happy for him. He has earned everything. He deserves it. I think it is just another lesson for young people who are about getting into the right situation and absorbing each ounce of information and wisdom that you can of the guys with which you have the opportunity to play, and then be ready for your chance. When your opportunity arrives, man, take the most.
