Concern grows in Barcelona over the release of Dani Olmo since the economic leverage will be insufficient

Barcelona are running out of time to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the second half of the season. The Blaugrana used the emergency injury rule to register Andreas Christensen with an Achilles problem, but now have just three weeks to find the money to do so without him.

Players in Spain cannot register twice for a team during a season, so if they do not do so within three weeks, before December 31, Olmo and Víctor will not be able to play for Barcelona again this season. . It is a situation that is generating growing concern at the club, although there is some faith that president Joan Laporta will repeat his usual trick of raising the necessary money at the last moment.

According to Diario AS, Barcelona has made no progress on the matter in the last three months. The agreement with Nike will help once approved, while the Blaugrana have also advanced subscription payments from January to December. Barcelona will also sell the rights to market its VIP boxes at the Camp Nou for the next 20 years, but the same media assures that even with all these measures and a bank guarantee from the board, it will not be enough.

Therefore, Laporta is looking for a “miracle investor”, potentially from Qatar, where he has spent much of the last month trying to get business. However, so far it has not been successful and it will be a last minute operation.

This situation comes amid demands for greater transparency about the club’s finances from opposition groups. Laporta has been criticized for kicking the can down the road with regards to absorbing the costs of his transfer business, but that can eventually have to be picked up again, and it looks like Laporta is running out of steam.
