Barcelona with consecutive five-goal performances as Real Betis are swept

Barcelona is in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey after a resounding 5-1 victory over Real Betis at the Estadi Olimpic de Montjuic.

It was a dream start for the hosts as they led within the first three minutes. Dani Olmo’s cut fell on Gavi, who scored his second goal in the last seven games, after doing so against Athletic Club last Wednesday.

Barcelona would get the second just before the half hour mark, and it came through Jules Kounde. Lamine Yamal gave the French defender a magnificent ball and he volleyed home a rare goal.

The VAR annulled two goals for Hansi Flick’s team before scoring the third, the work of Raphinha after another assist from Lamine Yamal. A few minutes later, substitute Ferran Torres came into action after an exquisite through ball from Dani Olmo.

Lamine Yamal was not denied a goal after two assists as he found the back of the net for Barcelona’s fifth. However, the Catalans would not keep a clean sheet, as Vitor Roque scored from a penalty against his parent club.

Barcelona are back to their best in 2024 and will undoubtedly be the favorites to win the Copa del Rey if they continue in this form for the rest of the season.
