Barcelona president Joan Laporta called to appear in €4.7 million fraud case

Barcelona president Joan Laporta passionately defended himself and attacked his opposition on Tuesday, but is due to appear in court next Monday. He will give testimony in a fraud case, although it has no relation to his time at Barcelona.

According to Marca, Laporta will testify about an alleged fraud case worth €4.7 million on Monday in a local court in Barcelona. The incident dates back to 2014, when a family (husband, wife and daughter) won 34 million euros in the lottery. When they went to buy a luxury car, they were advised to invest in companies promoted by Laporta.

The case revolves around a particular company, CSSB Limited, where he invested €2.4 million over a three-year period with an annual interest of 6%. However, the defendants allege that the contract is invalid because it was written in English and without a legible signature. Laporta reportedly acted as a consultant on the deal, acting on behalf of CSSB Limited. The family was even invited to the VIP seats at the Camp Nou, but after the described time they did not receive the promised money and the company supposedly kept 4.7 million euros of the money invested.
