The institutional vice president of Barcelona, Elena Fort, has been the first person from the club to speak publicly about the drama of the signings of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, who for the moment can leave for free. He also revealed the first details of an agreement to sell the marketing rights for VIP seats at the newly renovated Camp Nou, an agreement made in order to help register Olmo and Víctor.
Fort admitted to RAC1 that he did not know the name of the investors who had bought a total of 470 VIP seats once the Camp Nou was inaugurated, it is believed that they were two companies from Qatar and Dubai, but he defended the club stating that they had not improvised. The total value of the deal is believed to be €110 million.
“It is true that everyone comments that there is a deadline, but that is not the case. Social networks and the news we receive with Barça as involved are unfair. A prior judgment has been issued without having real information about what happened. Barça, from the first moment we arrived and now with the signings, has complied with all financial control obligations. I heard that we sold a cheap asset at the last minute, if I remember correctly, the first movements were in mid-October, in parallel with the operation with Nike. “Just because it is not reported does not mean that Barça is not working.”
“There has been no negligence on the part of the club. We have had plan A and plan B and C. If they are not registered today it is not because of poor management, but quite the opposite.”#FCBarcelona Institutional VP Elena Fort on the appointments of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. However, he did reveal that the agreement was not actually for the rental of those seats for 20 years, but for 30. The current Barcelona regime has been accused of mortgaging the future of the club.
“It’s for 30 years. The club has not been mortgaged, Espai Barça has financing through Goldman Sachs and part of this financing is through the ‘Hospitality’ of the VIP seats. The rental has been marketed with great success, as have the boxes. There are 470 of these spaces, which do not correspond to 5% of the total, and an agreement has been reached whereby this investor purchases the license to market them in the future. The cost of this rental, from €21,000 to €80,000, is guaranteed. This company will pay the maximum amount that it was going to receive, it gives the company the right to exploit it, to sell it at its own risk and expense. It gives absolute stability, that agreement is a great success.”

He went on to explain that La Liga had changed their tune on the Nike sponsorship deal, telling the club that they were initially under the impression that this would allow them to get back within their salary cap and be able to register Olmo and Víctor. Hence, Barcelona had decided to sanction the sale or rental of those VIP seats.
