Almirón’s Colo Colo Beat Junior and Will Be River or Talleres’ Rival in the Copa Libertadores

Junior de Barranquilla and Colo Colo faced each other this Tuesday at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium, in the second leg of the Copa Libertadores round of 16, in what was a triumph for El Cacique. Thanks to the 1-0 advantage in the first leg, they finished 2-1 in the second leg to be the winner of this tie. Now, Jorge Almirón will wait for River or Talleres.

The Chilean team won the first leg with a goal from Vicente Pizarro . The team managed by Argentine Jorge Almirón, who led Boca to the final of the last edition, had Arturo Vidal at his disposal, who was absent in the first leg due to discomfort in his left leg following a blow to the Achilles tendon, and he entered the field towards the end of the match. The Chilean giant is back in the top eight after six years without achieving it.

Argentines Emiliano Amor and Javier Correa also started for Cacique; Leonardo Gil and Gonzalo Castellani also came on and played the final minutes of Chile’s victory.

On the other hand, the only national presence in Junior was that of defender Emanuel Olivera, a starter.

Now, Almirón’s team will be waiting to see who will be their next match: Talleres or River . Both will decide at the Monumental, this Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.
