Barcelona has been in talks for several months with Pedri and Gavi’s representation about new contracts. However, they may experience significant delays.
Sport details that Barcelona is waiting for a court decision on the signings of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, but if it goes against them, they will have to sell more assets to be able to play in the second half of the season. However, if they don’t, Barcelona will be forced to delay Gavi and Pedri’s contracts.

This sale of assets will have a value of at least 120 million euros and would allow the Blaugrana to fit these new agreements into their salary limit. Otherwise, they will be forced to wait until summer.
Given all the noise coming out of the club and the local media having been positive that both want to stay at the club, it seems unlikely to become a major issue for either of their futures. However, it could have a knock-on impact on their ability to award new contracts to players such as Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong, who, like Pedri and Gavi, are signed until 2026.
