Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio can potentially breathe a sigh of relief as reports claim he will not be charged with the alleged distribution of child pornography. Asencio is one of the six Real Madrid youth players investigated for the crime after the case was opened in August 2023.
The 21-year-old was one of six players charged with distributing child pornography after his academy classmates shared sexual intercourse videos of an underage girl. Three of them were involved in the sexual acts, but Relevo says there is testimony that Asencio remained outside the cabin where the incident occurred.
Their information is that Asencio is no longer being investigated as a possible culprit in the distribution, but continues to be part of the case simply as a witness. The case is still under investigation and this status could still change, but the magistrate leading the investigation is not currently pursuing Asencio as a likely suspect.
Real Madrid has not yet commented publicly on the case, which is understandable given that it is an ongoing investigation. When Asencio’s involvement in the case became public, Asencio was due to travel with the senior team for a clash against Alavés, but was left out of the squad as it was considered an excessive distraction.
