Osasuna has announced that it will welcome two talents from the Portland Timbers over the next two weeks to aid in its development. Goalkeeper Hunter Sulte (22) and Adolfo Enríquez (18) train in Tajonar with their fourth-category team Subiza and their under-19 team.
Both arrive as part of an agreement for their players to gain experience in a different style of training, and in a different environment and style of play in Osasuna. Both have already made their senior debuts with Major League Soccer, but Enríquez and Sulte were hoping to get used to the faster speed of the game in Spain. Sulte was the second-youngest goalkeeper to play MLS soccer, while Enríquez made his debut last year.

“We thank Osasuna for their willingness to work with us and allow a couple of our young players to further their training later in the year and continue a small part of their development in a top-level environment,” explained Jack Dodd, who is Director Portland Technician.
“We wanted to find a club where they would be assessed and exposed to an environment outside their comfort zone knowing they were being looked after, supported and coached to a high level in a foreign country.”
The technical director of the Tajonar academy, the legendary Patxi Punal, was also happy with the collaboration.
“People are noticing the work we are doing in our academy. The main reason is the large number of youth players we have in the first team. While our first team continues to sign youth players, people from other countries are seeing the work we are doing here, which catches their attention. “It is encouraging to see teams from all over asking if they can send their players to train with us.”
