Kylian Mbappé’s salary dispute could put PSG in trouble with UEFA

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé finally left Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but he did not do so without acrimony. The French superstar continues to demand wages owed to PSG, who do not believe they have to pay him anything due to an alleged verbal agreement that he would not leave for free.

Both Ligue 1 and the disciplinary bodies of the LFP have ruled in favor of Mbappé by receiving the 55.4 million euros from PSG corresponding to the months of April, May and June, although the LFP has not sanctioned the club. However, they continue to refuse to pay. L’Equipe, as reported by Sport, states that with PSG obliged to hand over its accounts to UEFA on January 15, and one of the stipulations of its regulations is that clubs must not go into debt with their employees, which could technically include to Mbappé. As a result, UEFA could decide to sanction PSG, with sanctions ranging from reduced squads and fines to suspension from the competition.

It seems highly unlikely that UEFA will expel PSG from the Champions League over this matter, especially when it has not been resolved in a legal sense. Mbappé does not lack money and can afford to play long term to get the money he deserves, while PSG buys time to improve its finances after large outlays without gaining anything with the departures of Mbappé and Neymar Junior. and Lionel Messi.
