Barcelona willing to offer the Atlético de Madrid defender a new start next summer

Barcelona are analyzing potentially cheap options to complete their squad next summer, and one of the options they have identified is Atlético Madrid defender Reinildo Mandava. The 30-year-old Mozambican international expires next summer and looks set to leave Los Rojiblancos.

The Blaugrana have ruled out the idea of betting on Trent Alexander-Arnold or Alphonso Davies due to the cost, but they are still looking to strengthen their full-back positions. Reinildo has played 18 games this season, but totaled only 957 minutes and 10 starts. This reflects the fact that Javi Galán has made the left-back position his own of late. MD says sporting director Deco is looking at Reinildo as a left-back option who can play in central defence.

In Atlético’s last 7 League and Champions League games, Reinildo has played just 45 minutes, and previous reports have claimed that Atlético are also willing to let him go in January. If he arrived, it seems likely that he would do so in a similar way to Marcos Alonso, who left for Celta Vigo last summer. Reinildo is more solid defensively than Alejandro Balde, but there are doubts about his attacking effectiveness in a high-possession system, which Barcelona tends to favor.
