Barcelona were denied a second consecutive La Liga victory when Real Betis scored an injury-time equaliser.

Barcelona has not been able to achieve consecutive victories in La Liga. After a convincing victory over Mallorca on Tuesday, Hansi Flick’s team drew 2-2 against Real Betis at the Benito Villamarín.

Barcelona had the best initial performance and, in the 40th minute, they were rewarded with the advance. It was a wonderful team effort that was finished off by Robert Lewandowski, converting an excellent low cross from Jules Kounde.

Shortly before the hour mark, Betis got the deserved equalizer. Vitor Roque was fouled by Frenkie de Jong inside the area and that allowed Giovani Lo Celso to score from 12 meters.

Barcelona would take the lead again in the 82nd minute. Lamine Yamal’s outrageous pass was finished off by substitute Ferran Torres; The goal was initially disallowed for offside, before VAR overturned the decision. However, the visitors fell short of victory as Assane Diao scored in the fourth minute of added time.

The result means that Barcelona have made a mistake for the fourth time in five La Liga games. If Real Madrid defeat Girona later in the day, their lead at the top of the standings would be just two points, and that’s if they have played one more game.
