Barcelona knows that the free agent forward with 3 offers from the Premier League will cost 80 million euros

Barcelona sporting director Deco has identified the forward position as one of the areas to strengthen next season, knowing that Robert Lewandowski will turn 37 next year. It has been suggested that he will look for a striker who can play as an alternative to Lewandowski next season, with free agent Jonathan David emerging as an obvious candidate.

The fact that he is a free agent makes him a much cheaper alternative than many other options, and Sport say that Barcelona are aware that David is willing to play second fiddle to Lewandowski initially, claiming to be his eventual replacement. The board was surprised by his comments saying that he was a Barcelona fan, which they took as pressure to try to tempt Barcelona into making a move they have not yet made.

They are aware that David already has three Premier League offers on the table for next season, when his contract with Lille expires. The total package to sign him, including a five-year contract, a signing bonus and a fee for his agent, will amount to โ‚ฌ80 million, something that Barcelona does not consider out of the question.

His doubts when signing David have to do with his game. The 24-year-old striker thrives with space to run and the ability to use his pace, but the Blaugrana are concerned that the deeper defenses in La Liga that Barcelona face could cause him to struggle. Aware that time is running out, Barcelona will make a decision in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile in Germany, Florian Plettenberg has confirmed that Bayern Munich are interested in David, as an alternative to Harry Kane. Inter and Juventus have been heavily linked with David in the past, but the SkySports DE reporter claims there is no deal finalized with the Nerazzurri.
