Atlético de Madrid prepares offer for the Barcelona defender

Atlético de Madrid and Barcelona have been common partners in the transfer market in recent years, and it seems that they will do business next summer. The two parties are already in talks to make Clement Lenglet’s loan permanent.

The French centre-back has been on the exit ramp for some time, but Atlético could finally be his permanent destination after two loan spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. Los Colchoneros have him on loan for this season, and he has earned the trust of Diego Simeone, becoming a starter in recent months.

Rubén Uría has reported that Atlético and Barcelona are already in talks to reach an agreement and are willing to offer between 8 and 10 million euros for his services. The Blaugrana recently extended his contract until 2028, but both parties are interested in reaching an agreement.

The Frenchman’s high wages have often been an obstacle in negotiations for both Barcelona and his potential suitors, but at 29, Lenglet appears happy to have found a home in the Spanish capital. Overall, he has been a consistent option in La Liga, but now looks comfortable again with Simeone, in La Liga’s best defense.
