Many teams have tried to convince Martín Zubimendi to leave Real Sociedad, but Arsenal believe that their second attempt to secure his signature will be the decisive one. The latest reports coming out of England are that the Gunners are already in negotiations with the player.
That’s according to the DM, and later detailed by Fabrizio Romano. They say that after positive conversations with Zubimendi’s camp, conversations are already being held on a personal level. Arsenal would then activate their release clause of 60 million euros for a transfer that would take place in the summer.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted on Tuesday that they are openly looking for new signings and is believed to be playing a key role in convincing Zubimendi to move to London. Key talks are still needed, but given the moment, it appears the Basque midfielder is now ready to leave La Real.
Zubimendi almost moved to Liverpool last summer but backed out at the last minute and decided to stay. However, now 25 years old, it appears he will leave the Reale Arena next offseason. Arsenal will no doubt be eager to complete a deal, lest Liverpool return, amid rumors that Zubimendi is Real Madrid’s number one midfield target next summer.

The Euro 2024 winner shares an agent with Arteta, and both went through Zubieta’s system. However, if Xabi Alonso were to settle at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid could offer the possibility of working with their idol.
