Tottenham Hotspur forward Alejo Véliz spent almost all of 2024 in Spain. He was on loan at Sevilla during the second half of last season and during the summer he joined Espanyol on a temporary basis. However, none of the spells have been very successful.
In recent weeks, Véliz has been left out of Espanyol’s starting eleven, as he has only scored one goal in the league (four in all competitions). Spurs could be keeping an eye on him for a possible retirement and if that happens, a move closer to home could happen.
According to Ole (via CaughtOffside), Leicester City playmaker Facundo Buonanotte has asked Véliz to cut short his stay at Espanyol to join him at the Premier League strugglers.
“I would tell Tanque Veliz to come here to learn from Jamie Vardy. He’s on loan, but he’s at Tottenham now, so I think he knows. During the time we were at Central we made a nice duo.”
It remains to be seen if Espanyol loses Véliz in January. While it wouldn’t be a major loss, his departure would have to be replaced by a replacement.
