Decision made: Barcelona will beat Bayern Munich for the first signing of 2025

Barcelona have been in negotiations to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah in recent weeks, and it appears they have convinced him to join the club. Tah is out of contract next summer and can sign a pre-contract to join for free next week.

Tah had aroused the interest of Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich is the other major contender for his signature, having tried to sign him last summer. Bayern are the only team that can make a bid to surpass Barcelona’s financial package, but MD says Tah has made the decision to sign for the Catalan giant.

While he has not signed his contract and his team insist that no final decision has been made, the Blaugrana are already planning his arrival, which will see them attempt to arrange the departures of Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen next summer.

The German international has known Hansi Flick since their time together in the Mannschaft and has been a regular for Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen. This season he has played 25 games and scored two goals, and has not missed a single minute of action in the Bundesliga or Champions League.
